Global Strategy

In 1994 the World Heritage Committee stated that it wanted the World Heritage List to reflect the full diversity of cultural and natural sites of universal significance. It set up a programme called the ‘Global Strategy for a Balanced, Representative and Credible World Heritage List’, through which the Committee wants to expand the definition of World Heritage to reflect its full scala. The plan is to also have a workable methodology for implementing the World Heritage Convention. It is essential that more countries sign the Convention and that (National) Tentative Lists and nominations relate especially to categories and areas that are poorly represented.
