Or: World Heritage Fund and Funds-in-Trust
The World Heritage Fund is reserved for special purposes for which approximately four million dollars are made available per year. The fund consists of contributions and other grants by the countries that signed the World Heritage Convention as well as the occasional private donation. Countries can apply for money through the Fund, for instance when help is required for urgent problems and/or threats.
Some countries, including the Netherlands, also make Funds-in Trust (FIT, donations) available for specific purposes. It is referred to in the Netherlands as NFIT. At present the annual NFIT donation amounts to € 450,000. Other financial resources are provided through UNESCO, among other sources.
