The District Water Board House of the former Overwaard water board district lies at the end of the lower boezem. This building was built long before it was converted into a District Water Board House in 1644. The house contained a meeting room with a view over the lower boezem. It also had bedrooms for the Board of Directors. The house was modified after the dyke was reinforced in 1918, as a result of which the entrance now lies higher than the meeting room. Restoration work was carried out in 1982-1983 and in 2003-2004. Today, the House is used to receive guests of the ‘Rivierenland’ District Water Board.
The nomination of the Kinderdijk-Elshout World Heritage site also includes the former District Water Board House of the Nederwaard (now a restaurant) and the sluice network.
